How do I dictate an encounter?

Open the app, fill in patient info (or dictate it), pick the encounter type and specialty, then tap Dictate Encounter and describe what happened. Tap stop when done. Tap Extract Billing Codes and review the suggested CPT/ICD-10 codes before sending.

Why does the app ask for microphone permission?

Voice dictation requires microphone access. Audio is processed entirely on your device using Apple's on-device speech recognition (iOS 26+) — nothing is uploaded to any server. If you decline microphone access, you can still type the encounter manually.

Is my patient data secure?

Patient identifiers (name, MRN, date of birth, date of service) never leave your device. Only the de-identified clinical narrative plus the patient's age (capped at 90 per HIPAA Safe Harbor) is sent to our AI for code extraction. The AI runs on AWS Bedrock under a signed Business Associate Agreement (BAA). See our privacy policy for full details.

The codes look wrong. What do I do?

Every charge slip is a draft until you review and send it. You can edit any code, modifier, or description directly on the review screen. AI-generated codes are suggestions — verify before submission. If you spot a recurring issue, please email feedback@dropcharge.app with a description of what was wrong.

Voice dictation isn't working on my Android phone or desktop browser.

DropCharge currently supports voice dictation only on iOS (native app and Safari). On Android and desktop browsers, you can type the encounter into the app and the rest of the workflow works normally. iOS support is required because we route all audio through Apple's on-device speech recognition — Android and desktop browsers route to cloud services that don't meet our privacy bar.

Voice dictation requires iOS 26+. What if my phone is older?

The most accurate dictation engine (Apple SpeechAnalyzer) requires iOS 26 or later. On older iOS versions the app falls back to the legacy on-device speech recognizer, which still keeps audio on your device but with slightly lower accuracy on medical terms.

How do I change the billing email address?

In the app, tap the Settings gear icon and update the billing email field. The change is per-device and saved locally.

I forgot my access code.

Email support@dropcharge.app with your name and the email address you registered with. We'll verify your identity and send a new code.

How do I delete my data?

Patient data is stored only in your device's browser memory and is cleared when you close the app or sign out. There is no central patient database. If your organization enables persistent encounter history, you can clear it under Settings → Clear local history. To delete your provider account from our records, email privacy@dropcharge.app.
